Space Research For A Better Future (Essay for Writing 4 Course)

Space research is an activity aimed to do science research beyond the earth. Space researchers believe that doing space research or space exploration will improve human’s life. However, there is skepticism rise from the society. Many people believe that space research is just a waste of money. They believe that the result of space research and exploration is not that significant for human’s life. They think that it is not suitable as the money spent for building ships and facilities. They think that it is better for the government to reallocate the fund of space research into several essential fields like education, economy, and health. However, personally, i do believe that space research worth that much money for the result will be very important for our future. I believe that the result of space research is not useless. Because there must be a reason about why something does exist and created.

            First example about the importance of space research is the weather and climate prediction. Everyday, we enjoy the weather forecast broadcasted by radio or tv channel. Even several people download weather forecast application to get daily weather prediction. Although this kind of forecast is very simple, actually, this is also very important. By watching daily weather prediction, we can prepare ourselves when we are going to go downtown. Climate prediction is also very important. We can get to know about climate change so we can prepare any movements to slow down the global warming. At this point, space research is needed to analyze any changes in the atmosphere layers. As weather and climate change is happening in the layers of atmosphere, satellites and spaceships are needed to do the research. The cost is surely high. But it worth since the ships and satellites should report the prediction everyday. After knowing this fact, any demand on reallocating space research fund looks a bit unreasonable since saving our earth is more important than fulfill public’s unsatisfaction on their economy level.

            By providing prediction, data, and facts, space research can also make people become more educated and scientific minded. This is very important for human belief development. Ancient people tend to live with the myth surround them. Sometimes they explain a strange condition in relation with legends, myths, or even fairytail. This kind of action will make them narrow minded and think that everything happens based on fate given by God. They will have no other thoughts about why a strange thing happens without relate it to illogical reason like ghosts, trolls, and other mythical creatures. One of examples about how space research change people’s thought is the eclipse. Thousands years ago, whenever eclipse happens, people thought that the moon had been eaten by dragon or evil God. Therefore they had to sacrifice certain people to make the God lower his anger and ‘give the moon back’ to the sky. If this kind of tradition continue by now, there will be hundred thousands even millions innocent people die for nothing.

            From my explanations above, we can conclude that space research is very important for improving human’s life. Weather forecast and climate change prediction could make us more-prepared in facing global warming and unpredictable weather. Knowledge as the result of space research could make us wiser and scientific minded since we are no longer relating strange thing to myth and illogical reason. Reallocating space research fund for other aspects is not a wise choice since we have tried our best to fulfill people’s satisfaction that rise every year. “A small step from a man is a giant leap for mankind” is a very suitable quote for this problem. Space research probably could not provide a fact for present time. But i do believe that space research has the main key for a better future.

The Knight, the Princess and the Shooting Star

There lived a knight who fell in love with The Youngest Princess of Fairy Kingdom. But someday the Princess rose up to heaven and the Knight was so upset. He is the master of sword art and horse riding but he did not know how to fly.

Then he came out of the castle to learn how to fly to a butterfly. But the butterfly could only teach him to reach the tree top. He then learned from a little bird, but it could only take him to the tower. He learned from the eagle but it could just reach the mountain top. There was no any bird could fly higher.

The Knight was so sad but he did not give up. He asked the wind to take him fly higher than the mountain and clouds. Still, the Princess was too high up above and there was no any wind could reach the sky.

The Knight began to feel sad and desperate. Then a Shooting Star passed by. He could hear the desperate Knight cried. He then offered the Knight to teach him how to blast in the speed of light. He would be able to blast faster than the fire bolt and as high as a thousand skies. But, if the Knight failed to stop at the right place, he would be ruined into dust. The Knight agreed. He put all of his trust to the Shooting Star.

“This is the journey of a true love,” said the Shooting Star “Close your eyes now then say stop when you feel her nearby”

Then they blasted off. It was only love could keep the Knight warm in the very cold night. Then, he felt it.

”Stop,” said the Knight.

When the Shooting Star looked down, he could see a lonely beautiful Princess. She looked so bright in the middle of the night sky. The Shooting Star fell in love with her. He then released his grip on the Knight who soon blasted off again so fast that he was ruined into dust. The Shooting Star then came down to get into the Princess he fell in love with.

In turn, an aurora was painted in the north sky as a memory of the Knight’s true love and valor.

Kebiri Kimia: Mati Pelan-Pelan Karena Nggak Bisa "Berdiri"

   Hai, readers! Lama banget nih nggak ketemu. Kangen nggak? Sorry banget gua selama beberapa waktu ini nggak bisa post apapun karena gua lagi sibuk di kampus. Gua masuk tahap Seleksi 2 Internal buat persiapan NPEO (National Polytechnic English Olympics) 2016 yang bakal diselenggarakan di Batam. Jadi, otomatis gua harus belajar lebih keras buat hari H. Dan pastinya, waktu gua buat santai juga berkurang. Kali ini gua akan membahas topik yang lagi lumayan ramai dibicarakan yakni Chemical Castration alias Kebiri Kimia.
   Baru-baru ini, Presiden Indonesia, Bapak Jokowi, mengesahkan Perpu tentang kebiri kimia buat pelaku kekerasan seksual terutama pedofilia. Banyak pro dan kontra tentang hukuman ini. Sebenarnya, tujuan dari hukuman ini baik banget. Yaitu memberikan efek jera yang amat sangat terhadap pelaku kekerasan seksual. Seperti yang kita tau, Guys, akhir-akhir ini banyak banget kasus perkosaan yang melibatkan kekerasan serta pelaku dan korban di bawah umur. Sangat memprihatinkan emang. Hukuman penjara pun rasanya nggak cukup buat pelaku first-grade crime kayak gitu. Makanya, pemerintah berinisiatif buat memberikan kebiri kimia sebagai hukumannya.

   Meskipun hukuman ini dinilai paling sesuai buat kondisi saat ini, masih banyak pro dan kontra yang mewarnai. Salah satu alasan buat nggak setuju dengan hukuman ini adalah karena nanti, setelah disuntikkan hormon perempuan atau antiandrogen kedalam tubuh si pelaku, si pelaku bakal kehilangan libido dan jadi kayak robot karena nafsu seksualnya minim atau bahkan nggak ada. Selain itu, menurut beberapa ahli, tindakan ini juga bakal meningkatkan resiko osteoporosis dan hipertensi karena tulangnya bakal melemah dan lemak juga bakal nambah sehingga menekan pembuluh darah.
   Kalo menurut gua sendiri sih, gua nggak sepenuhnya nggak setuju dengan hukuman ini. Soalnya, dalam pandangan gua, kebiri kimia ini mungkin lebih mendingan daripada kebiri fisik. Gua aja nggak bisa bayangin kalo pelaku-pelaku itu dikebiri secara fisik. Dipotong men! Nggak kebayang aja gimana rasanya gitu loe bangun tidur suatu hari dan mendapati "telor" lu ilang yang mana itu adalah telor yang loe bangga-banggakan karena selamanya nggak netas-netas :D
   Mungkin yang membuat gua kurang begitu setuju dengan kebiri kimia adalah karena hal tersebut bakal membuat si pelaku menderita seumur hidupnya. Bayangin aja, ketika dia selesai disuntik, dia bakal nggak punya nafsu seksual kayak zombie. Ya mungkin realitanya nggak seserem zombie sih, cuman ya, gua nggak bisa membayangkan hidup macem apa yang bakal dia punya kalo nafsu seksualnya dihilangkan atau minimal dikurangi secara drastis.
   Lagipula, Guys, memberikan kebiri kimia sama aja membunuh dengan pelan-pelan. Soalnya, gua yakin ya, bagi sebagian pelaku yang mentalnya nggak terlalu kuat, hukuman dengan menghilangkan nafsu sesksualnya pasti bakal dirasa parah banget. Apalagi, buat cowok, memliki "barang" yang bisa berdiri adalah kebanggan tersendiri. Nah kalo si Joni nggak mau berdiri-berdiri, itu bagaikan kehilangan harga diri dia, Guys. Bahkan ada kemungkinan dia bakal stres dan bunuh diri karena merasa nggak jantan lagi.
   Gua bukannya mau membela pelakunya sih. Gua cuma merasa bahwa kebiri kimia kok kayaknya terlalu kejam. Hal itu jadi membuat kebiri kimia lebih seperti tindakan balas dendam daripada hukuman. Kalo ngomongin hukuman yang adil versi gua, maka gua menyarankan hukuman mati aja ketimbang kebiri kimia. Beberapa ahli juga mengatakan bahwa kebiri kimia sifatnya juga nggak permanen sehingga ketika habis masa suntikannya, masih ada kemungkinan dia akan melakukan kejahatan yang sama. Dengan kata lain, kebiri kimia juga bukan termasuk hukuman yang efektivitasnya tinggi.
   Menurut gua sih, hukuman mati kayaknya masih menjadi hukuman yang lumayan adil. Karena, dengan meghukum mati pelakunya, kita bisa menciptakan keadilan buat kedua belah pihak; pelaku dan korban. Keluarga si korban akan cukup puas ketika pelakunya dihukum mati setelah melakukan first-grade crime, sedangkan keluarga pelaku juga tidak perlu merasa tidak adil karena si pelaku nggak harus menderita seumur hidup.

   Itu tadi sekilas tentang pendapat gua mengenai kebiri kimia. Karena ini cuman pendapat, nggak perlu merasa tersindir ataupun gimana gitu lah ya. Nggak usah terlalu baper masalah beginian. Yang memutuskan pun pasti udah mempertimbangkan masak-masak sebelumnya. Jadi, nggak perlu rusuh gara-gara beda pendapat deh, Guys. Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, meskipun berbeda-beda tetapi tetap satu. Restaurant Buffet

restaurant buffet is a restaurants that provide various food. Usually more than ten kinds of food. And the costumer can take any food they want. But there is a time limit that given to the costumer and they have to pay same price for any food

kind of buffet restaurant

1.       All you can eat restaurant

2.       Cafetarian buffet

3.       Semi buffet

4.       Catering buffet

Advantage: they can serve costumers in large number and getting much profit because the price is more expensive than the traditional restaurant and the chef only need cook once

Disadvantage: they have to provide food in a large number and they will suffer financial loss if there are only few costumer

Fast casual restaurant

Similar with the fast food but have more variety. Fast casual restaurants is a type restaurant  in USA  that not offer full table service but promise a high quality of food with fewer frozen or processed ingredient  than a fast food. Because of that usually fast casual restaurant is more expensive than the other.

Pop up restaurant

Pop up restaurant also called underground restaurant, are temporary restaurant. These restaurants often operate from a private home, former factory or similar space, and during festivals. Pop up restaurants have been popular since the 2000s in Britain and Australian but they are not new phenomenon. Pop-up restaurants have been hailed as useful for younger chefs, allowing them to utilize underused kitchen facilities and "experiment without the risk of bankruptcy". By 2013, this restaurant style had gained steam and prevalence in larger cities thanks in part to crowd-funding efforts that offered the short-term capital needed to fund start-up costs.

Family restaurant

These restaurants are simply for family guest. In these restaurants they usually provide many facilities like.  They are usually use  as gathering place like family gathering. Because of that these restaurants have various menu from for children to adults.

Fine dinning

These restaurants have specific decoration and meal. They also provide menu for the special occasion. The costumer services are more attentive than the other restaurant. Usually they use French theme. Because of the expensive price, these restaurants are suitable for the richman not for the poorman.

Food truck

A moving restaurant.  Provide various menus, but not as much as buffet. It usually provides fast food and cafetarian menus.

Cafe and bistro

Do not provide table menus. Only provide light food and drink. Serve fast. Bistro provides more menus.

Fast food

Serving in short time. For example, KFC.
